Eleen, aka "Mouse"

Eleen Hsu Agustin is an Alameda resident, maker of bags and overall craft enthusiast who opened Modern Mouse in November 2009 and hasn’t looked back since. Prior to opening the store, Eleen ran a self-titled online business selling handmade bags, pouches and pillows at http://eleen.etsy.com, as well as in local Bay Area craft fairs.

She now focuses her time and energy on making Modern Mouse a fun and welcoming place for customers to shop and artists to sell; as well as managing the website for Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh’s recently released Delivering Happiness book! read more about Eleen »

Christina, aka "Shiny"

Christina Chen was such a favorite customer of ours that we decided we had to convince her to join the Modern Mouse team as Assistant Manager…and here she is! Born in Taiwan and raised in Norcal, Christina loves life in the Bay Area. She’s been a kindergarten teacher right here in Alameda and still loves interacting with the many kids and families who visit here at the shop.

Outside of life at Modern Mouse, you’ll find Christina going on grand adventures, watching movies, reading books with her cat Seamus (pronounced Shay-mus) on her lap, shopping at her favorite grocery store (Berkeley Bowl) and eating delicious food. Carla

Carla Fisher Schwartz is the calm, cool and collected one of the bunch (yet slightly quirky, which is why we really love her…I mean, the girl’s got an obsession with doilies — need we say more?). A recent UC Santa Cruz grad and Printmaking student, her stint here has already prompted the crafter in her to create the most pleasingly cute line of hair accessories which are now available to you from our very own shelves.

When not at Modern Mouse, Carla can be found in the print studio, cooking with housemates, riding her bike, creating huge library late fees, watching terrible science fiction, and finding junk to clutter up her room!

Katrina, aka "frizzykat"

Katrina Luu is our high-energy, highly lovable, organizer extraordinaire at Modern Mouse whom you’ll see bustling about the store greeting and helping customers on a regular basis.

Outside of Modern Mouse, you can expect to find Katrina laughing hysterically (well, you can expect to find her doing that here too), watching a movie, at the mall, with her loved ones, hunting for good finds at thrift stores, and drinking tea!

Reagan, aka "Reags"

Reagan Jones is an Alameda native who graces Modern Mouse with sunshine and smiles whenever she’s around. She’s got the enviable ability to chat it up with—and be genuinely interested in!—just about any visitor to the store, making all feel oh-so-welcomed and well attended to.

While away from Modern Mouse, you’re most likely to find Reagan either in bed, at the movies, reading a good book, chillin’ with her friends at Santa Cruz, at a music festival, or dining out with dad!
