Artist Profile: Unpossible Cuts

Lasers! We use ‘em for all kinds of stuff now, not just space gun attacks and crazy eye surgery. Who woulda thunk it? Lots of artists are using laser cutting technology to create unique furniture, sculpture, and jewelry. Philip Eggleston of Unpossible Cuts is one of these awesome folks. According to the Unpossible Cuts website, Philip uses the powers of “Laser cats, Viking blood, Eye of Newt, Unicorn Tears,Hipster Mustaches, and Wizard Beards” to bring his creative visions to life. We have no problem with that.
Here’s a bit more about the laser wizardry comin’ …

Artist Profile: YES & YES Designs

We just got a massive shipment of amazing goodies from Yes & Yes Designs, and we’re very excited about it! Designer Laura Bruland specializes in giving new life to cast-off objects, and the results are nothing short of incredible.  Laura began crafting in 2006, after inheriting a huge selection of wool scraps after her grandmother, the family’s “award-winning hooker,” passed away. Originally used for rug hooking, the bits and pieces of fabric became colorful headbands and brooches. Lately, though, she’s working with a new medium: book covers, from which she …

Artist Profile: Unicorn Crafts

Cute has a new name, and it’s Faheema Chaudhury. Her delightful company, Unicorn Crafts, features a cast of charming  shrink-plastic characters that include dinosaurs, narwhals, Frankenstein monsters, and, of course, unicorns. Based in Northridge, CA, Faheema creates hilarious conversation pieces that are also totally wearable (and adorable!). For example, did you know that real French toast wears a beret? That’s right. Here are some fun deets on the artist that’s making magic with her toaster oven (’cause you gotta bake the shrink plastic, you see!):

Modern Mouse’s newest artist, Corinne Wong, uses wood to its fullest effect, creating a variety of awesome treats that are simultaneously retro and modern! Stationed in Saratoga, CA, Corinne’s influenced by the video games of her youth and lovely typography. It’s an awesome juxtaposition and we’re happy to carry a super-sweet selection of Space Invaders wall hangings and Corinne’s signature initial necklaces in your favorite typeface here at the shop. Here’s a little more about the lady behind the NES controller:

Artist Profile: Yvo Crochet

We’re simply thrilled to introduce YvoCrochet’s collection of jewelry designs to Modern Mouse! Artist Yvonne is a master crocheter who mixes old-school skills with modern fashion with fantastic results. I can’t imagine the teeny tiny crochet hook and wee thread Yvonne uses to make her creations, but she gets the patient-person-of-the-year award for such detailed work! Often people with skills like hers make a lot of doilies and beautiful but not-so-hip stuff, but she takes it to the next level with chic bow rings and totally bohemian earrings! Granny style …

Artist Profile: Molletta Design

Molletta Design definitely has their finger on the pulse of what makes the Bay Area tick. Bikes? Check. Moustaches? Check. Mustaches for bikes? Double check. That’s right; Modern Mouse now carries a variety of felt facial hair for your currently clean-shaven bicycle, as well as the rest of Molletta Design’s line of velo-related products. One of the great things about living in sunny California is that there’s rarely an excuse to stay off your bike, and the bike culture that thrives here is like no other (take a walk/ride down …
