Artist Profile: cmh design

Plenty of tender loving care clearly goes into the creation of cmh design’s incredibly soft Wee Ones stuffies and pillows! Perfect for babies and kids from 1-92. Just because we’re not 5 anymore doesn’t mean we can’t hide a fake baby tooth in the Tooth Fairy Pillow and see what happens. =)

The cmh design Story
I am greatly inspired by words. One day I heard Peter Schiff (an American Economist) say this: [For our economy to survive] “We have to start making stuff again.” And I thought—well, that pretty much sums …

Artist Profile: Meredith Steele Paintings

For all of us with fond memories of long afternoons spent playing with our Fisher Price Little People, Meredith Steele is here! Her beautifully hand-touched 4×6 woodblock prints fill us with nostalgia and happiness. Off we go to daydream of childhood!
The Meredith Steele Paintings Story
I started making these small paintings of vintage toys after watching my own daughter play with the very same toys I enjoyed as a youngster.
In my other life…
I have an MFA degree in painting from Winthrop University and taught art for ten years. Now I spend my days …

Artist Profile: Intwined

If Steve Urkel owned a few sweet bowties from Intwined and ditched those suspenders, he would have had Laura swooning for him in no time! Are we right or are we right? Intwined’s playful yet sophisticatedly crafted bowties make us want to do a funky dance. And if you like it, you can also put a bowtie ring on it!

The Intwined Story
A company that seeks to combine two elements that fundamentally clash, but when paired together, are a match made in heaven. Intwined proves that opposites attract and can form …

Artist Profile: Blockhead Press

A splash of vintage and a cool dash of modern minimalism – Blockhead Press screenprints are just that! And there’s something for everyone, from cute latte stuffies to stylin’ skull belt buckles. Here at Modern Mouse we’ve been taking turns rocking out on the awesome Flying V and Stratocaster guitar stuffies. We love Blockhead Press “a latte”!!

The Blockhead Press Story
Blockhead Press is a Petaluma-based printing operation owned and operated by me, Jennifer Ruffing Paisley. Blockhead Press offers simple, crisp (and often humorous) graphics on a variety of items including household …

Clear your calendars everyone, on Saturday 7/31 we’ll be hosting our very first class right here at Modern Mouse! In this class, students will learn to connect wire links to make bracelets, necklaces and/or earrings. Depending on your …

Editor’s Choice for Best Indie Design Store!

Hooray! Hooray! Hooray! Hooray! Talk about a great way to end the week: I found out last night that Alameda Magazine picked Modern Mouse as Best Indie Design Store in its “The Best of Alameda 2010” issue that’s hot off the presses!
If I could grab both your hands right now and jump up and down in ecstatic, squealing jubilation…you can bet I would!
As soon as I got home from the store last night, Jimmy (aka Mr. Mouse) strolled casually out the door to greet me.
Jimmy: “Have you seen the Best …

Celebrating Sweet Store Signage

They say that signage is a store’s “silent salesperson”, helping communicate important messages to guests without even saying a word. Which is why I wanted to take the time today to celebrate all the fun storefront signs that none other than our girl Reagan has been whipping up week to week at Modern Mouse!
If you’ve walked through the shopping center anytime within the past few months, you’ve probably seen our colorful spinning wheel…and maybe even admired the artwork underneath it every now and then! That would be the work …
