Show Your Studio: girls can tell

Philly-based designer Sara Selepouchin’s girls can tell line has been with Modern Mouse from the very beginning. We absolutely adore her clever diagrams gracing useful goods! We’re also big fans of her meticulous process and her inspiring blog featuring studio news, yummy eats & drinks and exciting life happenings. When we got word that Sara opened a new “work | shop”, we just HAD to get a peek!
Where’s your *new* studio located?
My studio is located in a little storefront just off Passyunk Ave in South Philadelphia. It’s a great little spot, near so many excellent …

Halloween Drinkables (and Polly’s Dry Ice Punch Recipe!)

Okay, so Halloween is mostly about candy. And don’t get me wrong, candy is the greatest! But when I was a kid, there was nothing more exciting than getting to drink dry ice punch at a Halloween party. I still think dry ice is just about the coolest thing, but I haven’t really thought about it in years. Now I wanna make dry ice punch right now, and I want to drink it out of these spooky glasses from Bread and Badger, available right here at Modern Mouse! In my …

Artist Profile: Unicorn Crafts

Cute has a new name, and it’s Faheema Chaudhury. Her delightful company, Unicorn Crafts, features a cast of charming  shrink-plastic characters that include dinosaurs, narwhals, Frankenstein monsters, and, of course, unicorns. Based in Northridge, CA, Faheema creates hilarious conversation pieces that are also totally wearable (and adorable!). For example, did you know that real French toast wears a beret? That’s right. Here are some fun deets on the artist that’s making magic with her toaster oven (’cause you gotta bake the shrink plastic, you see!):

Is it Halloween Yet?

It’s almost Halloween! Well, we’ve got 29 days left. But from what I’ve been seeing all over the Bay Area, people are more than ready to get dressed up and pig out on candy. There are already pumpkins everywhere, and those pop-up costume shops are in full effect! I love Halloween, but I also really love October and the cozy weather, fall leaves, and pumpkin spice lattes that the month brings. I’m a sucker for the changing of seasons.

I wanted to share a fun tutorial that I put together this …

Artist Profile: Bee Parade

Modern Mouse’s newest artist, Corinne Wong, uses wood to its fullest effect, creating a variety of awesome treats that are simultaneously retro and modern! Stationed in Saratoga, CA, Corinne’s influenced by the video games of her youth and lovely typography. It’s an awesome juxtaposition and we’re happy to carry a super-sweet selection of Space Invaders wall hangings and Corinne’s signature initial necklaces in your favorite typeface here at the shop. Here’s a little more about the lady behind the NES controller:
